Dave
Marcus, a.k.a DJ Dynamix, could be considered a newcomer on the
Dance/Electronic Music scene at 20 years old, but his roots in
music go further than one would suspect.
Growing up on Roosevelt Island, nestled right in-between
Manhattan and Queens, Marcus was exposed to both sides of life,
the upscale world of Manhattan, and the gritty urban life of Queens.
At a young age, he picked up the guitar, and never put it down again.
Around the age of 16, he became heavily engrossed in the burgeoning
Rave and Underground Electronic Music scene, and would become heavily
influenced by the sounds of Drum n’ Bass and Jungle music. At 17
he picked up a set of turntables and became a fixture on the NYC
Jungle Music scene, and when not spinning records at local clubs,
raves, and warehouse parties, Marcus was producing his own Hip-Hop,
Trip-Hop, and Drum n Bass tracks. At the same time, he elevated
his study of music and began aggressively pursuing his studies in
Jazz Guitar.
At age 18 he met the legendary House Producer/DJ
Boyd Jarvis, who would influence him to begin getting involved in
the House Music scene, and the two teamed up to work on a variety
of different styles of music together.
Dave Marcus is currently enrolled in the City College
Conservatory for Jazz Studies, and continues to spin records and
produce a variety of music.
